The Pirate Bay Sponsors Rock Band

Posted by: ants In: General

Torrent aggregator The Pirate Bay is featuring the new album from Swedish band Lamont on their homepage. This sponsorship has generated over 100,000 downloads and 60,000 views for the band’s new video in less than 24 hours! These are huge numbers for any band, let alone a little Scandinavian glam rock band.

Take about choices, Lamont offers their new album Golden Daze in MP3, OGG and FLAC audio formats. It’s hard to argue the fact that P2P file sharing is an extremely efficient way to distribute music, especially if your a band who’s just starting out.

You should also check out Michael Geist’s post on a recent Canadian study entitled The Impact of Music Downloads and P2P File-Sharing on the Purchase of Music: A Study for Industry Canada. The bottom line - downloaders purchase more music.

How do you like them apples?
